Why are there pauses?

Time, comfort and the meaning of a pause.

Bowen Studio ·

A pause is not a test

Pauses between sequences are characteristic of Bowen practice. There is no sensation you must notice and no result you need to produce. You do not have to interpret a quiet moment as a sign that something is working.

Your comfort still matters

Being quiet is optional. If you feel cold, want to move or have a question, say so. You can ask for an adjustment or end the session. An interval of stillness should never mean losing your voice in the conversation.

Move. Pause. Respond.

At Bowen Studio, these words describe the pace of an experience—not a proven biological mechanism. Water imagery on this website is a visual metaphor for stillness, not a demonstration of what happens inside the body.

Before agreeing to another visit, ask about its purpose and cost. Outcomes and a particular number of sessions cannot be guaranteed. Bowen does not replace appropriate medical care.
