What research can—and cannot—tell us

Separating personal experience from clinical evidence.

Read beyond a headline

The Australian Government’s Natural Therapies Review 2024 evaluated six trials of Bowen therapy, all involving pain conditions. Effects on pain and physical function were very uncertain. Safety was outside the review’s scope; it should not be read as proof that a practice is risk-free.

Experience and evidence answer different questions

A testimonial describes one person’s experience. It cannot predict another person’s outcome or establish a treatment mechanism. Equally, uncertainty is not a promise that benefit will eventually be demonstrated.

We do not promise cures, guaranteed improvement or a fixed number of sessions. Ask questions, consider costs and discuss suitability with a qualified healthcare professional. Do not postpone appropriate medical assessment or treatment because of website content.
